Karen George joined the firm as a paralegal in the firm’s liability department in 2004. She graduated from Deerborne High School in 1975 and attended the paralegal studies program at Florida International University from 1995 to 1997. She holds a paralegal certificate. Ms. George also is a member of NALA (National Association of Legal Assistants) and SFPA (South Florida Paralegal Association).

Ms. George began her work in the legal field in 1976 and has held positions with various firms in the Miami area. She has worked on several high profile cases throughout the years such as the McDuffy case. This case involved the death of Mr. McDuffy and involved six City of Miami Police Officers who were acquitted. While with the Finley, Kumble, et al. firm, she worked on the famous Gold Bullion case involving two brothers who scammed money out of thousands of people by selling them fake gold bullion over the phone. Later working as a paralegal for David Freedman, Esquire, she worked on the case of Gould v. City of Coral Gables which resulted in a multi-million dollar award to Emil Gould for the city’s misuse and obstruction of the sale of 3.5 acres of land. While with the firm of Mershon, Sawyer, et al., Ms. George worked with attorney Edward T. O’Donnell filing Amici Curiae briefs on behalf of the Produce Liability Advisory Counsel and Motor Vehicle Manufacturer’s Association across the country from the initial appellate level through to the United States Supreme Court.

In the mid to late 1980's, Ms. George began working with attorney Kimberly Shapiro of the Stephens, Lynn, et al. firm defending the first cases against the blood banks and AIDS tainted blood victims. Finally, in 2000, she worked with Plaintiff attorney Don Russo on a toxic tort case in the Napa Valley, California area involving a mother and daughter exposed to Carbon Monoxide via an inadequately ventilated fireplace which resulted in an award of $2.2 million dollars to the mother, daughter and husband.

Ms. George’s extensive experience in high profile, complex cases is an invaluable asset to the firm.
